Merri Palmer's early years in the Texas Panhandle provoked an initial wave of songs and shows in 2005. Merri released her debut record, "The First Five Years," in August 2006 before escaping to Austin, TX.

Some psychologists say a person's basic personality is developed by the age of five. This frightens me because I don't remember much from back then. "The First Five Years" is an examination of the cause-effect symbiosis among nature, nurture, conditioning, and redemption.
